TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. AUTUMN MEETING. In our advertising columns will bo found the programme for the autumn meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club, which takes place on -March a*.and 25. Sixteen events are canlcil, eight open races and eight hack events, The Taranaki Cup .Handicap, of Sill) sovs., is the principal event, and is run over one mill a quarter miles, n distance which is more popular than in longer ■ races in this part of the Xorth Island. The Paul Memorial Handicap, of 200. sovs., is run over a mile anil a distance, and is tlie principal money on. the second day The other open events are the Flying Handicap, 110 sovs., li furlongs; Stewards' Handicap, 100 sovs., o mrioiigs; lirandstnjid Handicap, 10U sovs., 5 furlongs; First and Second Welter Handicaps, each of 100 sovs., and run over one mile; and Farewell Handicap, SOsovs., six furlongs. Hack events are also well endowed. The Tukaka Had; llamlicup, of 05 sovs., « furlongs; Kaitalic Hack Handicap, of 05 sovs., one mile; Wharepapa Hack Welter, of 05 sovs., li furlongs; Kawau Hack Handicap, of 05 sovs., one mile: two Hack Scurries, each of 50 sovs., and run over live furlongs; and two hack hurdle events, each of (ill sovs.. and run over one and a-nalf miles, conclude the programme. The stakes ottered should draw good entries, especially as Mi\ (I. Morse will handicap for the club, anil the starting is in the capable bands of Mr. C. O'Coji-, nor. There is very little doing in the I racing world until the Easter meetings come along, and tins Taranaki Jockey Club's gathering does not clash with any other North Island meeting, so we may expect good nominations ami a good class of horses. Entries for all events, with the 'exception of the Hack Scurry and Final Hack Flutter close with the secretary, Mr. E. P. Webster, on Friday, February 20th, at 9 p.m.
