Brisbane, January 12. Professor Brugge, in the course ol his presidential address, remarked that a very considerable share of the development of new science had been taken by men born in Australasia. Kasily first amongst these stood Professor Ernest Rutherford, of New Zealand, to whom the world owed many fundamental conceptions of the subject. Received 13, 0,48 a.m. Brisbane, January 12. At the Science Congress, Professor Easterfleld, of New Zealand, read a paper on "Modern Chemistry."
