RAILWAY SUPERANNUATION

Retiring allowances, aggregating £2200 lis Bd, were passed by Hie Oovernincnt Railway Superannuation Fund Hoard today to 25 railway men retiring m superannuation. The meeting was attended by all the members of the Board and the .Minister of Railways (Hon. J. A. .Millar) presided. The payment of £ISOO by the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants to the fund, in accordance with the arrangement under the amending Act of 1008, to secure the counting of broken service for superannuation arising out of the maritime strike, was reported and increased retiring allowances were accordingly passed to seven men who are already on superannuation. The additional pay varied from £8 to £32- per annum. Refunds of contributions totalling £ll7O 18s 5d were passed in respect lo men who hail resigned or retired through medical unfitness or oilier causes, ami allowances ainounlhg to CPU per Minium were authorised to be paid to seven widows and five children of deceased railwayiucii. In lhe cases of two deceased employees, who had received sonic superannuation payments, the refund of £BO 13s 2d to their representatives was authorised, this being the difference lietwcen their payments and the amount received in benefits.
