KING OF REPTILES.
3,000,001) YEARS OLD TERROR. FED ON ANIMALS AS LARGE AS ; ELEPHANTS. The fossil remains of the king of reptiles, unearthed recently in the Had Lands of Montana. U.tt.A., will arrive at the New York Natural History Museum, where preparations have been made to give the remains of the three-million-year-old monster the place of honor. No other museum in the world has a similar specimen. The. animal when alive had teeth six inches long, and it devoured other animals as large as elephants. He was between forty and fifty feet long, and when he chose to stand upright he was from twenty to thirty feet in height. His mouth was three feet long and two and a half feet broad. Both jaws were full of the six-inch teeth, three inches in circumference at the base, and tapering to a. needle point. The jawbones were, like oak beams.
The reptile king was the bully of his period, and was built purely for fighting, lie walked on his back legs, his front legs being short paws, with four claws like giant awls on each. Any animal that could not run fast enough was always the prey of this reptile.
