ELECTRIC LIGHT COMMITTEE. That the charge ifor lighting under the street lighting vole, which includes £4O for lighting Town Hull and Baths, be reduced by that amount; and the charges be readjusted as follows:—* Street lighting, £301; Carnegie, library, light £2O, heat £l2 10s (ten months only); Town Hall, £l7; Baths, £3. ELECTRICAL ENGINEER'S HEPORT. The Electrical Engineer .(Mr. Black) reports:—The connections to the private lighting lines to December 31st numbered 304, an increase of 120 for the past twelve months. He has received a few of the new tmetallic filament lumps for 110 and 220 volts. Some of the customers .are giving these a trial. He also has some on the street lighting circuits near the centre of'the town, in Courtenay, Powderhani, Silver, and Queen Streets. A few of these lamps, 10 candle-power, two in series or each fitting, have also been 'erected temporarily in Liardet Street fron Courtenay Street to the Reercatior Grounds gale. Two ,-of these lamps together giving 100 candle-power, taki no more current than the one 32 candle power carbon -filament lamp which thei replace.. Although these lamps ari very fragile, their average useful life i: much longer than (the carbon lamp; am the great saving in current is causing them to be generally used. There i: Another (lamp on the market that' i !not so fragile, namely, the Tantalum but as they are not nearly so economic al as the Tungsten lamps they are np so much in demand.
