Secretary of .State for the i'olonii'rt, denies the accuracy of Mr. Daniel O'Connor's statement published' on tlw -21st November. What he states does not represent his (Earl Crewe's) opinions. • According to Mr. Daniel O'Connor; CV-51.1X'., of Sydney, Eari Crewe, in an interview with him, expressed surprise that Australia lagged behind Canada, South Africa, and New Zealand in encouraging immigration. He had pleaded for the appointment of a High Commissioner for the Commonwealth, and more than once urged an early selection. A' well-informed Harl Crewe continued, would bo highly useful to the Colonial Office and highly beneficial to the Commonwealth.
