XEW VICTORIAN MINISTRY. ELECTION oFa SPEAKER. Melbourne, January 8. Tin; new Ministry is formed thus:— Mi- Murmv, Premier, Chief Secretary, and Minister for Labour; Mr Watt, Twasmcr; Mr Mcßride, Minister for Mint's; Mr Billson, Minister for Education: Mr Graham, Minister for Agyiculture and Railways; Mr Maekeiusre, Minister for Lands and Water Supply; Mr Baillen, Minister for Works; Mr Bvysdale Brown, Attorney-General; Messrs Thompson and Cameron, Honorary Ministers. la connection with the election bf ___ Speaker, Mr Madden aud Mr- Beatfßjr" are proposed, but some of the labour members have objected to Mr Beariey getting the appointment. They declare that important times are coming, aud the Labour Party would need hi* vote; in fact, every vote they could muster. The- Labour leader appealed to hi* colleagues to vote for Mr Beazley, but when a division was taken nine Labourites left the Chamber a-id Mr Madden was elected by 38 to 10. The Supply Bill was passed, and th« House adjourned to February 0. Mr McKonaie, the new Minister of Lands, will visit New Zealand to study its land legislation, especially in regard to taxation and compulsory purchases.
