An American named Lorenzo Alfred 4 a missionary of the Church of the Latter Day <Siiiiits of America, was arrested on a charge of making a false declaraition for registration on the Nelson electoral roll. In connection with the a hove, Harry Atmore, who was a candidate, was charged with wilfuly misleading the Registrar by submitting Alfred's name for enrolment. The question of the adjournment of the ease for a Magistrate to hear it will be consW» wed by Justices of the Peace this af,t'eraoon.

At the S.M. Court to-day GeorgeWomlley, 17 years of age, was charged with the theft of a suit of clothes, vnlu--<ed at 1U I.os, at fiiccarton. He was sentenced to a mouth's imprisonment. On* two charges of forgery of cheques he was committed to the .Supreme Court ntt Wellington for sentence.
