H.M.S. CAMBRIAN.
Yesterday the secretary of the Seaside Improvement Committee (Mr. A. Humphries) received the following com-1 munication from Captain Vaughan lewes:—"l desire to thank your committee for the very hospitable and kmd welcome extended to H.M.S. Cambrian during the past few daye. The trouble and kindness you have all taken on behalf of myself, the officers, and men has been greatly appreciated, and I de»ire you will inform your Association tow grateful I am, particularly with regard to the 120 officers and men who were weather-bound, and whom you looked after so well. I will only add how much the visit has been enjoyed and my great regrets that the unpropitious weather has prevented, so lar, my seeing anyone on board the ship. The Harbormaster, Captain Hood, received the following communication from Captain Lewes:—"Permit me to thank vou verv heartily for the courtesy •vou have extended to this ship during our stay here. The trouble taken by yourself on behalf of myself, the olheen, and men, and also in connection with our boats, has heen greatly appreciated, and H» enabled us to enjoy our stay at Vew Plymouth, which otherwise, owin" to tin* continued weather, could not have been the case. • The departure of MIA Cambrian has been unexpectedly delayed owing to a mishap entailing the loss ol one of the anchors.
