Auckland, Saturday. _ The miners employed hy the Tanpiri Coal Company, Ltd., received notice on. censing work on Thursday, tliat, they would be required to undergo medical examination before resuming work on Monday, January 4. A meeting of the Waikato Miners' Unidn was held the same evening, when the following resolution was passed, to be sent to the manager:—That wo object to and will not undergo medical examination as required by the Tauf piri Coal Company, Ltd.; furthermore we shall hold the company responsible for our wages whilst we are locked out, pending decision of this matter.
