At tin- annual meeting of the New Plymouth Caledonian Society to be held on Tuesday evening, the report to be presented will be as follows:—"Your diiv-lors have v; congratulate members r.pnn a successful year, the Society having carried to a successful issue the I largest sports meeting ei'er held in New Plymouth, 'i lie Society was honored n being givvi the conduct of the Now Zealand Ai.lile.tie Championships, and was specially commended by tile New Zealand Athjetic Union on the manner in which the whole affair was conducted. Tim annual conference of the New Zealand Athletic Union delegates was held in the New Plymouth at the time of '.lie sports meeting, and (he Society ;s g'-eatly indebted to delegates for valuable assistance rendered the Society's officers. Financially, and notwithstanding the heiwy prize list and extra exfens.! invol'cd in conducting the championships, ihe Society emerged satisfactorily. The year commenced with a viitual credit balance of £1 14s Oil. We liace £ls in hand with which to cominon"e the new year. 'the. membership, however, lias fallen off, and your director? recommend that measures be token to substantially increase the number of members. From various causes, the hilenfion of tin- Society to hold electric light sports f' 11 through, and it is urged that special efforts be made this season to popularise the society with athletes: by this means. The question of inaugurpting an auiual dinner to members is ulso recommended as a means if interesting members in the Society. In conclusion, we have to congratulate our patron, W. Kerr, Esq.. on his appointment to the Magisterial Bench. We thank Mr. Meflvriile. for the donation oT a championship medal, and all those I who contributed to the success of list I ycais' operations."
