Detectives Andrews and Lewis arrived promptly, but without a search warrant. The detectives watched the house. Shortly afterwards .Mrs. Burgess, n sis-ter-in-law of the escapee, arrived am] gave the police permission -without a search warrant to investigate. Warder Legett and Detective Andrews searched 'the top floor, Detective Lewis and Mr. Baxter searching the bottom floor. The escapee was found lying under a mattress in a bed of the lop floor hv War- j der Lcggelt, who took him into custody I and back to the prison.
