A great influx of visitors is probable for the Whangarci curnival on December :l0 and 3\, and January I and 1, and special accommodation 'arrangements have been made. The carnival will con. sist of a band contest, military and cadet sports, bowling and tennis tournaments, regatta, night entertainments at an illuminated ground, and axemen's sports. Exceptionally large entries have been received for the latter, including most of the ■aoled axemen iii Ihe Dominion, and it will be the biggest contest of this class ever known in the North. Harbor and land excursions have been arranged, and trout fishing is also available.
