HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. The following cablegram has been* received by the Department of Industries and Commerce from the High Commissioner at- London, under date 19th December:— Frozen Meat—The mutton market is depressed. There is dull sale for all qualities, although stocks of New Zealand mutton ou hand are light and arc firmly held in a few hgmls. Current quotations are: —Canterbury mutton 3%i1, North Island River Plate 3'/ s d. The lamb market is quiet, with scarcely any demand. Australian lamb is ill large supply. Only best quality is saleable. Current quotations:— Canterbury lamb 5%d, other than Canterbury 4%d, Australian 4"/, d. The beef market is dull and the supply exceeds the demand. Hindquarters are quoted at 3'/ 2 (l ami forequarters at 3d. Quotations for New Zealand beef are Tiominal. Butter.—The market is weaker and prices slightly lower. Buyers arc holding back, expecting prices to go lower. The current quotations for choicest NewZealand is 110s, Australian 106s, Danish 114s, Argentine 105s, Siberian 103s per cwt. Cheese. —The market is quiet owing to poor demand. New Zealand makes are quoted at 58s per cwt. Hemp.—The Haricot is lifeless. Quotations for all positions are: Good fair grade £25, fair grade £23, fair current Manila £24 15s. Last week's output from Manila amounted to 23,000 bales. Cocksfoot Seed. —The market is very dull. The quotation is 78s (nominal) for bright clean 171b seed. Hops. The market is steady, with very good demand. Wheat, New Zealand long-berried wheat on the spot, ex granary, pw quarter of 4961b, 37s 6dj short-berried 35s fid (nominal). OatS. Sparrowbill oats (short), ex granary, oil the spot, per quarter of 3841b, 245; New Zealand oats (Danish), ex granary, on the spot, per quarter of 3201b, 16s 6d. Vegetables.—New Zealand beans f.a.q. (old crop), per 5041b, 325; market firm. New Zealand partridge peas, per 5041b, 425. New Zealand peas, blue, 34s 6d; market firm; prices well maintained. Wool.—The market is quieter. Current , quotations for Bradford tops are —36's (low crossbreds) ll 5 /sd, 44's (medium crossbreds) Is OV4d, 58's (halfbreds) Is 4 1 /£ d, 56's (quarterbreds) Is 6%d, 00's' (merinos) Is lid.
