In reply to a complaint by the Bir-. niingham Chamber of Commerce of tha piracy of trade-marks by Japan, Sir Edward Grey, Secretary for Foreign Affairs, explained the Japanese regulfet tions concerning the registration of toreign trade-marks and advised owners to forward particulars to the Patent Bureau, Tokio, and the trades oolleotively to appoint an agent in Japan to watch their interests.
