THE GOVERNMENT AND HARBOR HOARDS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, East Night. At the niceting of the Auckland Harbor Hoard committee, held this afternoon, a letter was received froiu tile Timaru Harbor Board dealing with tin ipicstion of dues oil Government goods. It was pointed out llial the Governinent had escaped payment of 0701) in dues on State coal entering'J'imnni. Mr Entrican said the position was a more or less serious one. Mr. \apicr said it was all part of the question whether or not the Crown should pay for anything. Mr. Entrican said if became more serious when the remembered that the Government escaped payment of wharfage ■due on State coal. Slate oysters and so I forth, and then entered into competition with private business people. The secretary (Mr. Brigliam) said .the dues on goods for New Zealand ports lanital and shipped at Auckland free of wharfage from December Ist to November 30th amounted to tl.'ilKl on imports and Ci 3on exports.
