Hides— Supplies are small and the market is very strong for all classes. DI'XKDLV WOOL SALES. JJunedin, Last Night. The lirsi of tin* series of Dunedin. wool sales was hvld to-day. The total offerings were SB2l bales, as against 4GRB bales at the opening sale of last year, the imrease no doubt being accounted for by the line weather during the last few weeks and also by the fact that the prices ruling in the North sales were much in advance of what was expected earlier in the season. There was a large attendance of buyers, representing British. Continental and American centres, as well as local buyers. The quality of the elip for the most purfc was equal to 4hat of hist year, bub some of the Central Otago wool gave evidence of a very severe winter. The most noticeable feature was the comparatively high 'prices paid by Bradford buyers for sound crossbred hogget wool of good length. Continental buyers were strong competitors for medium half-bred, in many eases out-bidding tin; local mills, who usually take the bulk 'of these lots. The prices ruled as fol-lows:--Super halfbred to Is. 'medium lo Sit lo lod, inferior (>%d to 7%d. super ero<sbred* 10,1 to W/.t\, 'good do 7 : ;' id Lo f'/od, medium do 'lo 7'/-d, super merinos pjd, medium t-j 'good S'/.d to inferior 7d to 'Pieces, bellies, ami locks sold ;it a ve'duction of Id to T/.d per lb.
