To the Editor. Sir—There is a law in Uie land which is supposed to compel midwives to betome licensed, at a fee, i believe, ol ten < shillings*.per annum. Would you b;!-l lie.ve that in the 'town and district of .New J'lvmoulh only seven have been registered and licensed'/ When the Act was passed everybody said what a splendid tiling the i'remier was doing; but what is the use of a law that only a mere fraction of the people will obey? .No doubt it is somebody's business t'j see tliat these people are duly licensed, and in fairness to the others they sluuld lie compelled to come into line.— I am, etc., .UATERKiTY.
