The spell of hot dry weather we have had for some, time was broken on Monday last, when heavy rain fell for a while in the morning, but it was not enough to moisten the ground under th:surface. It did good, however, to the 'irass. which was greatly in need of it. Showers have fallen on nearly every :lav since.
