Jiel A committee meeting of the Taranaki J1)0 Agricultural Society was held last even- |j ar ing, the president (Jlr. W. Anibury) w)l occupying the chair. j

It was decided that the prizes for factory exhibits be allocated as follows: — First prize £5 os, second prize £3 3s, third prize £2 2s. The proposal made recently by Dr. Paget to have a class in next year's show catalogue for horse best fitted to run a 20-mile journey (particulars oi which have appeared in these columns) was coiisddered. It was decided that Dr. I'aget be heartily thanked for the suggestion, and his offer of a special prize of £5, and that the proposal be favorably recommended to the Programme Committee.

Twenty-four new members were proposed and elected. Some discussion took place iu regard to the advisability of enrolling lady meniibers. It. was pointed out that the home industries section should be in the hands of a ladies' committee. This section needed fostering, and the committee considered that the ladies should be given control. It was decided that ladies be admitted to membership at a fee of ss, such membership to carry one free ticket. The following ladies' names were received as the nucleus of a committee:—Mesdaincs W. Amlmry. J. r.. Uiil, ]■:. M. Jlamblyu, Kendall, K. I*. Webster, A. Cliff, N. Hill, and F. Watson.

The special prize of £2 2s donated by Mr. 8. Smith for the largest number of members enrolled was awarded to .Mr. R.Cornwall, Mr. .1. It. Mill being second. Tiux: genUem"ii expressed their wish to hand the prizes over to the society. As a result of the work of these two gentlemen the membership of the society was increased by about 100.

A donation of £2 2s was awarded t■> Caretaker lilewman. It was decided to increase Foreman Tippins' wage to Wa per day. Mr. C. T. Mills was appointed auditor to the society at a fee of CI Is. A recommendation was made that stock exhibits in future be led and handled ill the judging ring by persons not owning the animals. Votes of thanks were passed to the Taranaki Jockey Club for their gcneiosity in placing the privileges of the ground at the Society's disposal, and to all persons who so kindly loaned paddocks for grazing the show stock. Votes of thanks were also passed to donators of special prizes and officials. Accounts were .passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned with the customary vote to the chair.
