'The balance-sheet of the Canterbury Rugby Union for the year shows that the receipts amounted to £1330 Os 8d and the expenditure to £11! M. ME.MOIUAL TO P. 0. DEANS. Christcliurch, Last Night. The Canterbury Kugby Union decided at a meeting to-night to vote £25 towards the establishment of a scholarship at the Boys' High School as a memorial to the late I'. O;. Deans, who at one time was a pupil at that school. The Old Boys' Association,-who are taking tlie initiatory steps in the nutter, asked for the Union's co-operation. A snb-eoniniittee was set up to report on the (piestion as to the ailvisableness of the Canterbury Itugby Union taking steps to commemoriate Deans by the establishment of a cup. shield, or trophy to he compel ed for in senior local matches.
