KOKU. (From Our Own Correspondent). The annual school concert and dance was held in tlic. Kuril Hull last Thursdii.v, and was well patronised, ma.iy coining from the surrounding districts. Adhuii, meinlier of the Education Hoard, addressed tho«e present anil praised the children for the manner in which they h.ul gone through their parts and complimented the teacher, .Miss iieid, on having such a successful examination (she only having one failure), mentioning also lluil tiiree of the pupils had received a certificate of proficiency, entitling them to two vi'iirs' free tuition at the Xew Plymouth' High School. Su,>per was then handed round, and dancing indulged in till flic small hours of the morning, when cvcrybodi wended their way homo satisfied, with the evening'proceedings. I WAITARA. Altogether an enjoyable evening was -pent by those who availed themselves of the opportunity if healing some of the best local talent. Messrs. Murgatroyd and ('ate contributed violin duets, giving selections from the "Standard (lems." Voctl solos were given by Messrs. flilbert. MiAl'nii- Cazzard (Auckland) and MeKenzic, raeh id' lhe-e treat lemeii being in L'ood voice. .Mr Cazzard'- item. "Song of the Anvil." wa- especially appreciated. Miss l'ean-e nm-t be congratulated for iln- way in which she had trained a number of hoys in an action song, called "The Shoemaker.'' and Ihe same bovs. also gave '•lirotherlv Kindness." another action song. A reading by .Mr. K. .1. W'ulc was very much appreciated. The s.s. Kiiipar-.i arrived oil' Wail urn from Xapier on Friday nioraing, and will be engaged in loading for the next four or live days. The local rowing clubs are holding \. bale-boat races for trophies during the evenings when tide permits. .Mr. A. T. Lake presented two medals for the Clifton Rowing Hub. both medals being won by Mr. McKoy's crew. Messrs. Soll'e and Tait won tile Waitara liowing Club's race on Wednesday evening.
