YOUNU MAN KILLED. dy Telegraph.—i'resa Association. Nelson, December 12 A young man named Rolf Nutt-tl nas killed yesterday wnile trucking logs to Grant's sawmill at Kaituna, in tne Collingwood district. It is surmised, that the brake failed down an incline, derailing the trucks, while a log struck Nullal, who was picked up just as he was expiring. The parents of deceased reside at Mouterc. SUICIDE BY I'OISONLXG. Napier, Last Night. Alfred B. l'etterseu, aged 37, a horse trainer, committed suicide at Nurse Bclhune's private hospital, Hastings, this afternoon. He had just returned from the Woodville races. He tallied a nurse into his room and told her he had taken carbolic acid. She summoned, it doctor, but the man pased away in a few minutes. MISSING MAN TURNS IT. j llokitika, Last Night. I Frederick iloyes, formerly manager of the Wheel of Fortune claim, whose disappearance was reported a fortnight ago, turned up at an early hour this morning at the residence of his brother-in-law. Iloyes was in a terribly emaciated condition, lie gave a very incoherent story of his whereabouts during Ihe last IS days. It is believed he lived in some hut near The Wilberforce reefs. ACCIDENTALLY SHOT. Wellington, Last Night. Pclei' Colin Hume, aged 20, was handling a, revolver at his residence, Kilbirnie road, when the charge exploded, the bullet lodging in his head. He was taken to the hospital, and his condition is said to be serious. MISSING. Wellington, Last Night. A man named Thomas Randall, who arrived from Sydney a fortnight ago, is reported by the police as missing since last Wednesday. He had been in a depressed state of mind, through being out of work.
