ACCKLAXD DISTRICT PETITIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Mghl. It lias definitely been announced ui«: tile trade has decided tu lile a petition praying that the Ohineniuri poll, in which no-license was declared to jisiv bcen carried, may Ijc voided. Tile grounds of the petition arc alleged irngulnriLies in connection with the taking of the jhills and the conduct of several of the polling booths, while il is iindvrslood that it will also be alleged that during the three days preceding the poll imitations of voting papers were ;(i*played, and that electors were accosted on polling day and advised to "■strike out Hie top line." It is believed that one point the petitioners will rely upon is thai more than six voters were permitted to be in a booth at one time, and that electors were permitted • ■ converse in the booth and in the compartments as to their votes. Although no delinite announcement has yet been made by the no-license party, it is practically certain thali they will lodge petitions praying that, the Waitematii poll, "no proposal carried," shall be voided. There is some possibility of a petition being lodged by the no-license parly in Purnell, where reduction was carried.

Beee'roft (president of the Methodist Conference) and the Rev. (I. lludd, with K. W. Neal (secretary) appearing to object. Tin Licensing Committee refused to grant the license till the applicant had stavtec the other business which he said he hat ia view.
