DROWNING OF MR DOBSON.
London, December 7. Mr. Dobson left London on Friday. He wrote to his wife tire same cveniii" stating that he was returning owim' ■to dizziness. I| L . telegraphed again on" Saturday to his wife: -Meet me at Charing Cross."
The newspapers, owing to the frequency of such accidents, suggest that "1 steamers should carry searchlight. A tribute is paid to the popularity of the late Mr. Dobson by Australians in London and liy British officials. Public officers say that deceased deserved all praise for his untiring efforts and patience to advance the interests of Australia.
SYMPATHETIC REFERENCES. Received 8, 11.50 p.m. London, December 8. Mr. W. Peruber Reeves (New Zealand High Commissioner) paid a high tribute to the memory of Mr. Dobson. Earl Crewe, Secretary for the Colonies, telegraphed to Tasmania his deep personal sympathy, and sent a personal letter m similar terms to the widow Earl Crewe held Mr. Dobson in the highest esteem, and regarded him altogether as a charming representative of the colony.
