Deceased must have laid down in the same position for some considerable time, Then was a bruise on the left side of tluj scalp, although there was no fracture. Witness mis of opinion that deceased became unconscious when he fell. Andrew Kershaw said deceased WM working for witness for about a.fo?t-ntf-ht. Witness saw deceased on Tuenday, December Ist, at 4..'i0 ]>.ni. He had asked in the morning for half a day's leave, which was granted. Deceased said he would come to work th<! next morning. That was the last witness saw of deceased. To get home deceased could go past the traiusheds, where he was found.' The widow of deceased and the two boys who discovered him lying in. the ditch, also gave evidence, but Jio tresh light was thrown on the matter. Dr. MrArthur'n finding was in accordance with the medical evidence. Deceased who was 44 years of age, was born in Tasmania. He had been in Nbw Zealand for three years. He leaves S widow and one child.
