Home liner Arawa happened on 13th November, when she was about a third of the distance from the Cape to Hobart. There was a high sea at tnc time. A thud was felt, and it was found that the starboard propeller, weieline eleven tons, had dropped off. With the other propeller the steamer continued to make over nine knots per hour, though the fi two boilers which had IMost of the passengers were unaware of ft? mishap for some time. An <*- aminition at Hobart showed that ta« tail shaft had broken off just inside th. stern tube. The vessel only left thbuilders' hands in February of last jeai, and the cause of the fracture is unknown. A new propeller•will be maoin Wellington and fitted here or in dock at Auckland. The Rarawa, from Onelnvnga, yesterday morning brought 400 tags 170 bags of manure, 430 pipes, etc., 120 cases of fruit, 50 sacks of flour, and to tons of general cargo.
