E. GRIFFITHS & CO.'S DAIRY REPORT. Messrs. K. Griffiths and Co. are in receipt of the following butter market report from their London principals. Messrs. Mills and Sparrow, dated 23rd October, 1908: The weather continues open, but the nights have been much cooler. This will soon have its effect on the supply of butter lu the Home districts, which lias kept up longer than is usually the case.
Danish: Quotation lias advanced ono kroner on account of slightly firmer prices generally. Siberian: Small arrival* arc coming to hand, and quality is fairly good. These fresh arrivals are clearing at good lutes, and more attention is being given to the stored parcels, which, though faulty in llavor, now that the market is advancing, look cheap. l'rench: No further rise lias taken place up to time of writing, but agents have difficulty in keeping pace with tile increased orders at ([notations. Quality is much better than it lias been for some time.
Irish: Tliciv is a great falling-oil in quality, live texture of arrivals the past few <lays being poor. Prices are linn and advancing. American: Trade is of a very retail character, the bulk of the butter being of a secondary grade. Australian: The shipment pi'r Onnuz was welcomed and opened up in line order. All the. finest butters were quickly cleared, and 124s has been made for both Queensland ami New South \Aales butters > a few unsalted realising 120*. This latter is particularly scarce: in fact, unsalted butter is almost unobtainable. New Zealand: The Mamari is in dock, butters will not be available until next week, for the new season's butters high prices will be made. Ch<'<M'.—Market is very dull. Buyers and holders are apart in their ideas, and the former are holding oil' until right aground. Thev do not, however, hold large stocks, and we do not look for any serious alteration in the quotation*.
