THE REBELLION IN JIAYTI. ESCAPE OF THE PRESIDENT. Port-Au-Prince, December 3, President Alexis' troops retreated aul voluntarily disarmed when General Simon's (?Firmin's) rebel troops approacned. Port-au-Prince people are clamouring for the appointment of General Simon as President. The French Minister, throwing the folds of the tricolour over Alexis' shoulders, escorted him from Hie palace and placed him aboard a Frencn vurstiip. The populace nooted them and endeavoured to assassinate Alexis. The American and French Consulates stationed bluejackets .at their respective offices.
Pillaging has begu-,i in the market. A butcher was killed while defending his stall.
