Although they had perhaps only done little during the year they had done it well. Vi.ianeially the society was in a belter position than formerly. The secretary was deserving of a word of praise for his past services, which, although not honorary, had been beneficial to the society. Brookes, of canary fame, had won the society's trophy outright, and this would need

to be remodelled. The committee could not see its way to guarantee th-" Government some £SOO to run a'laying competition in Tanraaki, and was of the belief that poultry would pay a. well in Taranaki as any other part of (he Dominion.
