FRIENDLY SOCIF/L'IES AND MEDICOS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Nignt. The conference of delegates from friendly societies rejected the model agreement submitted by the Medical Association, and appointed a committc to draft another agreement. The matter will probably be gone into furtlrvr to-morrow.
VOLUNTEER COMPANY AND DEFENCE COUNCIL. Duncdrn, Last Night. When W. Begg, whose commission in the North Duncdin Rifles was recently cancelled, was re-elected lieutenant by the company it was considered that cx- [ istinjr troubles had been overcome, and | the Company rescinded its resolution to disband. It is understood, however, that tlie Defence Council has refused to recommend the re-appointment of Mr. Hegg. This may mean that the Company will revert to its decision to disband.
DELIMUM TKEMENS PATIENTS. : Nelson, Thursday. The Charitable Aid Board last night rescinded a resolution to admit delirium tremens patients to the liospilal, and gave a general order that no such patients should be admitted in future aru\ that, if delirium tremens developed in a patient in the hospital, he should be promptly removed. The Board resolved to write to tire Government staling its refusal to treat delirium tremens patients, and recommended the erection of padded cells at all police stations. It was the fault of the police that such cases arose, as it was their duty to see that publicans did not sell a man 100 much liquor. The Board resolved to ask the Government to establish an additional convalescent home whither patients leaving the consumptive annexes! partly cured might be sent.
