HOSPITAL SATURDAY IN DUNEDIN.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunodin, Lust Xight. The third annual Hospital Saturday 'Collection was taken up yesterday. The weather was beautifully line in tliq morning, but became showery early in tile altcraoou, steady raijl setting 01 later and eontinuiny ujilil well on in the I'veniiiji. In previous years the collectors confined their attcniion to Hie city and suburbs, but this year tlio movement was extended to the country districts, extending as far north as Palmerston (it miles) and as far south as Hilton (:ili miles), and in Central Otago to Middleman-It (47 miles). The returns ar,e not quite complete, hut the collection so far amounts to .tlloO, an increase of £330 on last year's figures. It is estimated that but for the rain another €l5O would have been collected. The money will go to provide nodical and other comforts for patients in the piiiicdin Hospital and the Be-ic-volent (Institution, < U id to nmintaia, I improve, and develop the St. ,)ohn Ambnlance Association, the . Patients and Prisoners Aid .Society, Victoria Jubilee Convalescent fund, and the Karitanc Home. |
