ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
FALL FROM A TIiAMCAK. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A man named Michael Moriarty fell while getting off a tramcar lute last night. He was badly wounded in the head, his shoulders were bruised, and he received a severe shock to the system. He is in a serious condition today. A MAN MISSING. llolutika, Last Night. Grave fears are entertained for the safety of Frederick Boyes, a well-known figure in mining circles and until 'ccontly mining manager of the \Vhi»l of Fortune claim at Stafford. Boyes left home on Wednesday morning early and was seen taking to the hush near Humphrey's Gully, where his bicycle was subsequently found. Footprints, supposed to be his, have been discovered on a bridle track leading to Wilberforce Reefs, but although search parties have been out ever since, no trace of the missing man has been found.
COACHING ACCIDENT. v Hokitika, Last Night. A coach, the property of Charles Tee. while coining down a hill towards town, capsized, owing to the horses getting unmanageable. Several passengers had miraculous escapes, but Tee himself was severely injured, a wheel of the coach 'going over his body. INQUEST. Nelson, Saturday, An inquest was held to-dav ..,,'tho body of William UitlJic, who was found dead last night in an orchard in St. Vincent Street.. The medical evidence showed that he had swallowed a quantity of arsenate of lead, used for spraying fruit trees. He suffered from insomnia, and had been greatly depressed of late. A verdict of suicide whilst temporarily insane was returned. A MINER'S SUICIDE. Invercargil], Saturday. A miner, named Peter Johnson, aged fifi, committed suicide at Riverton this morning, by cutting his throat with a razor.
DKOYVXIXC -FATALITY. Wellington, Saturday. Yesterday afternoon a, man was seen floating face downwards in the water near the wharf. He was rescued by Mr. Opie Jones, of the Customs staff, and was taken to the hospital. He recovered sufficiently to he able to state that his name, was William Ferguson and that -he was a fireman, at present out of work. However, he gradually sank a-nd expired. It is thought t hat he may have been sleeping by some barrels at the 'end of the wharf and rolled into the water.
