Wellington, Last Night, The New Zealand Times remarks that the most surprising feature of the nolieens'e movement in New Zealand is that concurrent with a steadily increasing vote for the abolition of hotels there has been a still greater proportionate growth in 'the national drink account. During the twelve years' covered liy the live local option polls there has teen an increase of 22 per cent, in the number of people voting "iio-license r ami an increase of .33 per cent, in the drink bill, or from t2 10s 8d per head of population in 1800 to £3 15s 10d in 1007. Clearly, the Times adds, the nolicense vote is swelled to its present largi' proportions by the co-operation of moderate drinkers with "true blue" prohibitiionists. The drink bill for the whole Dominion and the entry of almost unlimited quantities of spirituous liquors into the no-license areas proves that absolutely.

THE CHTvTSTCHITRCH POLL. Christchurch, Last Night. It was slated to-day that the nolieense party proposed to take proceedings to upset the Christchurch local option poll on th» grounds that at one of the booths in the Christchurch North electorate some twenty-five or thirty electors were not given the local option voting paper with the Parliamentary paper. A reporter saw Mr. T. E. Taylo-'-, the member for Ohristchurch North, and was informed by him that there was no truth whatever in the statement.
