OPENING THE LONDON BRANCH. London, November 25. A dinner was held at the Hotel Cecil m celebration of the opening of the London branch of the Australian Mutual Provident Society. Among the guests were Lord Lojnington, form'eriy Governor of Queensland, Mr. Felix Schuster, the noted banker, and leading representatives of insurance companies. Mr. Gilbert Parker, in proposing the toast of "The Society," remarked that its wonderful methods would assuredly appeal to the Conservative mind of the British public. Mr. A. W. Mecks, of Sydney, wAo presided, in responding to the toast, said the branch was another link hetweea the Commonwealth -and the Motherland. He hoped it would help to make the wealth and profress of Australasia more widely known.
