AWARDED THE NOBEL PRIZE FOB CHEMISTRY, , London, November 24. It is .announced at Stockholm that 'rolessor hrnest Rutherford, of McGM l nivcrsity, Montreal, has been awarded the Nobel prize for Chemistry. (The Nobel Prizes are the highest honours that can be gained in the scientific world. Five prizes, each at £BOOO, are given each year for tlio following subjects:—(l) Physios, (2) chemistry, (U) physiology or medicine, (4) the most distinguished work of an idealistic tendency in the liehl of literature, and (J) the best ellorl toward) the fraternity of nations and the promotion of peace. Professor Rutherford is a New Zealander. His parents live at Pungnndiii, Taranaki. He has bc«m i remarkably successful in his scientific investigations, particularly in regard to I radium.)
