SPORTING.

TARAXAKI METROPOLITAN COM- I MITTEE. A meeting of the Taranaki Metropolitan Committee was held at the office I uf tin; secretary (Mr. E. •!'. Welister) on Monday night. Present: Messrs. C. M. Upper (in the "chair), 0. \V. (sole, U A. Xolan, ,1. Ellis, A. R. SUndisli. and W. C. Weston. The disqualification of W. G. Crozicr for taking part at unregistered meetings was removed. An application from E. X. Campbell for a trainer's license was held over. Gentlemen riders' certificates were granted to Messrs. l>. George, A. Mitchell, C. Stockman, and W, 11. Jioulton. A jockey's license was granted to E. George and an apprentice's license to T. 11. Trask. An application for a gentleman rider's certificate from D. Campbell was referred to the Opunake Club.

TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. A meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club was held subsequently. A bonus of £SO was granted to the retiring secretary, Mr. M. Fleetwood. Messrs. llempton, Foster, and Gill were elected members. A sub-committee was set up to deal with the catering at the. Christmas meeting, and also with the publican's booth for the season. The Garrison Band was engaged to play at the Christmas meeting. A Complimentary I Tickets Committee was set up.
