An auction sule of interest to farmers and the general public appears in this issue. On Saturday next .Messrs. Webster Bros, will sell, without reserve, a quantity of second-class timber from the liquidated estate of -Messrs. Pikett (deceased) n.id Wilkie. The attendance at the local show this year will be increased by a number of cattle-breeders and dairymen from Ijdyond the province, who are visiting New Plymouth to attend the clearing sale of Messrs. Griffiths and Cornwall's famous .Jersey herd on Friday. Elaborate arrangement* have been made on the farm for the comfort and convenience of buyers. A large staging ha*! been erected, and luncheon will be provided. In addition to the disposal of ytb.ii noted Jersey herd, a number of! ipurdbred Berkshire pigs, and a quantity of agricultural machinery, mostly quite new, will be put under the hammer. Catalogues of the sale, giving full pedigrees of all the animals, arc now procurable. Mr. Newton King has a very extensive list of land properties for sale, etc. Any of the properties may lie inspected on application. Elsewhere particulars are advertised of several cheap farms. An iutcrc-ting feature in the machinery section of the show will be the exhibit made by Okey. Son and Arnold of Donald's woolprcsses. The patentee of'these presses has interested himself in the improvement of woolpacking appliances for thirty-odd years, ami it is rhiimed that the greatest perfection in this line is now embodied in the presses in question. Special attention has been given to ensure ease in loading, prcssI in«. and sewing. The presses are now I exceedingly popular, and are probably iwell enough known in this district for their merits not to need any further j amplification.
