COMMONWEALTH AND UNION COMPANY.
A WRONG IMPRESSION. Received 2.1, 1.7 a.m. Sydney, November 24. The summarised press reports of Mr. Jackson's speech at the Makura Inncbeon conveyed a wrong impression in regard to the relations of the company with the Federal Government. The speech expressed the opinion that tire position of the Vancouver service was not the most satisfactory owing to the absence of reciprocal trade relations between Canada and Australia. As a matter of fact, the relations of the company and the Commonwealth have always been friendly and cordial, while in the matter of negotiations with Canada the Federal Government, it is understood, has been doing its utmost to arrange a satisfactory contract.
