BOROUGH COUNCIL.

by the Fitzroy Town Board the arrange-1i ments entered into with reference to I i the upkeep of Clemow road, be rescind- i cd at March 31 next and after that date the Council undertake to keep in repair the portion of the road as at present metalled; the Council to also have eon- . trol of all extraordinary heavy irallic on the road and to exempt from nil charges of whatsoever nature in respect of vehicles employed by the Council or its contractors on the said road; the arrangement to be embodied in an agreement to be first drawn up and appioved by both parties; that the borough i solicitors be instructed to arrange for the transfer to the borough of the land arranged to be acquired from the Rail-

way Department for a street from Leach street to Baring Terrace; that Messrs. T. and R. Parkins' tender for 1 haulage of gravel and shingle be aelceptI ed; that the borough engineer be authorised to arrange for the installing of an electric motor for the stone dustier (estimated cost £125); that notice be given to remove the fences at present across the east end of Courtney street and Lemon street so as to give entrances to the "Lovers' Walk"; that Messrs. McLaren and Co. be informed that the Council caanot see its way to pay more for the crusher jaws than the amount originally fixed when the order wis given to them. (Price arranged, £l2 f.0.b., Wellington, including Customs. Price claimed £23 10s 8d). Some discussion arose upon the water Bervice proposals, Cr. Howson for a breach of the buildiug r by-laws in connection with the erection J of a verandah of a shop in j Brougham street.
