MOA ROAD BOARD.

The Moa ltoad Board met at Inglewood on Saturday. There were present: Messrs. 11. Trimble (chairman), T. Chamnev, A. E. Lawrence, A. Chard, l r . Sutherland, G. Capper, IP. Hoby, C. Young, and A. Corkill. RESIGNATION OF CLERK. The resignation of Mr. A. E. Atkinson from the clerkship of the Board was accepted with regret, and the chairman's action confirmed in his temporary appointment of Mr. W. E. Tereival to the position. It was decided to invite fresh applications, the salary being fixed, as before, at ; iCIOO a year. ALLEGED DAMAGES.

Mr. 11. Thomson, solicitor, forwarded his opinion that Mr. Kennedy was not to claim compensation in respect of damage caused to his land by damming back the stream by the culvert erected by the Board on the Everett road. T!ie Board had followed the recognised practice, and Mr. Kennedy should have made his claim within one year of the completion of the work. Mr. Kennedy will be informed accordingly. XI MB EH TRAFFIC. Messrs. llenry Brown & Co. wrote that, they were not carting logs on the Durham road as reported by the foreman. Xhey were purchasing logs delivered at llazlett's section for placing on their tram. The carting was not being done by them or by their teams. It was stated that Messrs. Douch & Lawrence were the contractors, and that they had, without permission, constructed a landing-place on the roadside.

The matter was left in the hands of the chairman, with instructions that unless the matter of heavy trallic dues was arranged they would have to remove the landing and cease the trallic. Orbell and ilackay, reported that the contractors for Lincoln road metalling and for the Bedford road drain were making good progress, and the works were Hearing completion, TENDERS. Tenders for supplies of metal were dealt with, the following being accepted for boulders unless otherwise stated:— Ross road, W. Cowley, 3s (id per yard; Dudley road west, J. 11. Xeilson, 1!) 3s Id per chain; extra metal, 7s 5d per yard. -Mr. (.'banincy reported that lie had been unable to engage men to drive a trial tunnel at the site of the proposed Motukawa bridge. No tender was accepted for the Motukawa bridge. Tenders were received for the erection of a bridge 011 the Mana road, but none was accepted pending arrangements being made for the necessary borrowing.

.Mr. T. Schreider waited on the Board ia connection with the Bedford road tunnel. This had been constructed by the Board on the understanding that the settlers would do some necessary Jill* ing, but now they were not willing to carry out their portion of the agreement.—Consideration deferred. Mr. E. S. Barton, Tariki road, wrote that Air, Simons was 'having a Ift. wide drain cut to empty into the Manyatca stream, which ran through his place, ami already had more "water than it could carry in very wet weather, lie had spent a lot of money in deepening the creek, and lie thought he should not he flooded out by this drain. —Referred |,o the chairman.
