I THE VICTORIAN MEEm'G. DOUBLES WOX liV THE AUSTRALASIAN'S. Received 21, 8.25 p.m. Sydney, November 21. The final of the doubles championship was woa by Brookes and Wilding (Australasia), who defeated Alexander and Wright (America), o—3, o—2, 4—o o—2. '
Owing to the rain the play was delayed till the afternoon. The courts were slippery. Interest in the doubles' match drew a large attendance. Early in the play it was apparent that the Americans were suffering from the mv.ggv heat, a succession of faults giving the Australasians a good lead, and they gained the first three o-umes! Brookes and Wilding both played°brilli'antly throughout, working together like clockwork. The third set was the Americans playing beautiful tennis,' their volleying especially being brilliant! In the final set the Australians had it all their own way and won the championship amid great cheering.
