He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment without hard labor. AVELLIXGTOX SESSIONS. Wellington, Friday. At the Supreme Court to-day John Patrick Collins, charged with the theft of a gold watcli and chain, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment. Alfred Herbert Hayes was charged at thfl Supreme Court to-day on three counts with having on August last »t Greytown ()) discharged a gun at Andrew Hope with intent to do him grievous bodily liann: (2) caused him actual bodily harm; (3) committed an assault upon him. After evidence had boon taken, the Crown, at his Honor Mr .Justice Cooper's suggestion, withdrew the major counts and prisoner pleaded guilty to the charge of common assault and was fined 20s.
