All telegraph ollices will be kept open next Tuesday night, as on general election night, for the transmission r,f news regarding the second ballots. We understand that both Messrs W. Mr. Hughes laughingly replied that he hoped Mr. King would win the wager. Later in the day the chairman pointed out. amidst some merriment, that the authority given to raise Lhe CO'HI.DOO had been .supported by Mr. Thomson, the representative of the redhot opposition. Mr. Thomson said it was 01110 use now to go on opposing the scheme, for the ratepayers had decided oil the loaa.
