Uy Telegraph - Press Association. Clinstchurch, Monday. The llower Hotel at Avon was burned down early this morning'. JThe building was insured for £4OO in the Imperial Company and the contents for £4OO in tile Liverpool, London and Globe Company. It was one of the oldest hotels ill the district. Fuilding, Monday. A dwelling occupied by M. liurrell, his wife and two children, near Cheltenham,'was .destroyed by lire on Saturday night. The oceupants narrowly escaped with tlieir lives and without clothes by climbing through a window. The furniture was insured for £IOO. The house belongs to .Air. Hugh Burrell. The insurance is not available. Uar'gaville, Monday. A iire broke out at the Wairoa Bell office yesterday morning at 2.50. There was no wind or all the main street would have gone. The lire completely destroyed the Hell ollice, Collins' store, .Sergeant's shop, and the tientlem"in's Club. The Hell was insured for £OOO in the State ollice; Collins' for £ISOO in the Liverpool ollice; Sergeant's for £l5O in the .State and £IOOO in tire Imperial; the Chili for £llOO in the Atlas and <C 17 in the Hoyal oflice. The occupiers estimate their losses above insurances as follows; Hell newspaper -CIOOO, Collins £OOO, Sergeant £2OO, .the Club £IOO. The origin of tlie ftre is unknown. The premises were all wooden buildings.
