PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY

The Presbyterian Assembly deemed t'> amalgamate the beneficiary fluids of the northern .and southern section of the church, and a committee was set up to consider the question of regulations. The Bible-in-Schools Committee reported there were now 174 classes, as against 110 at the close of the year. The committee on Sabbath observance ex pressed regret at the number of cases of violation of the Sabbath and recommended that the Moderator be requested to approach the authorised representatives of other churches with the object of issuing a joint manifesto on the subject of desecration, making a ! kindly appeal to the people. The Assembly appointed a committee to consider what could be done to amalgamate the Outlook, the Young Men's Magazine, the CJirls' Chronicle, the lireak of Day, the Harvest Field, and New Hebrides Magazine. The Church Extension •Committee Tecommended that the funis from the Mansom bequest be devoted to the following stations: Hokianga,. Ohura, Tadmor, Stratford Outfields, and Hokitika. The Outfields Committee re commended that a home mission agent be set aside specially to deal with re mote and sparsely populated districts. The report was adopted. It was decided that the Auckland Presbytery be divided and a new Presbytery created in the "Waikato.
