The Elliot Road Board notify that a poll of ratepayers will be taken mi Saturday, 28th November, on the proposal to borrow £IOOO.
Attention' id directed to .the notice of sale appearing in our. auction columns this issue. Mr. E. Hoale, who has carried on ;t fruit and confectionery business here for the past twelve months, has decided to relinquish his present business and pay more attention f o gardening. The sale is on Monday next at Webster Bros.' mart, at 2 o'clock. The storekeepers of New Plymouth are generally very optimistic, and ive notice at this time of the year great preparations are being made for a busy Christmas season, and we think this optimism is fully justified in the face of the amount o7 money coming into our I Taranaki district. One of the prettiest sights of our New Plymouth streets is ' the three window displays of Mr. C. Carter. Jn one is a lovely display ef the new Poland chinaware, an artistic production in china art that is quite unique. The next contains a direct indent of the new season's epergnes in all the latest shapes and shades oi coloring, all marked in plain figures, a marvel of cheapness. The other contains Japanese ware made in Japan, and quite a revelation of artistic work. We draw the attention of our readers to the new advertisement in to-day's paper.
