The. total shipments to Europe for the week amount to 1,075,000 quarters, including 50,000 quarters from the Argentine and Uruguay. Silver is quoted at 22 15-lGd. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. Wellington. Monday. The following is the High Commissioner's commercial cable dated London, 3th November: — The mutton market is weak and dull On account of heavy arrivals from the Continent. New Zealand stocks are firmly held in few hands, and are quoted at 3%d 'for Canterbury brands and 3</ji for North Island. River rl'late mutton is quoted at 3'/ t d. The lamb market is quiet. Prices are slightly weaker. There is little demand. The stocks of New Zealand lamb on hand are light, and are quoted at 3%d for Canterbury and o'/ s d for other than Canterbury. River Plate lamb is quoted at 4%d. ]
Beef.—Tlic market is steady, with moderate enquiry. Hindquarters :>ve quoted at :i%d. forequarters It 1 /,'!. Supplies (if River Plate beef are heavy.
Butter.—The market is linn fur (V best quality, owing to the short .sujijily. New Zealand butter is quoted at 12(>s per ewt: Australian, 1235; Argentine, 1245; Danish. 120s. Cheese. The market is quiet butf Tlie demand is improving. Prices are unchanged. Hemp.—The* market is very unccrlain, and business is dull. The demand is ehieflv 'for prompt delivery.
