KILLED BY LIGHTNING. Melbourne, November 10. During a storm at Oban a flash of lightning struck a wire fence, fused the wire and killed a fencer named Campbell. Three other fencers were injured.
FIRE AT AN OIL BORE. Brisbane, November 10. The fire at the Roma oil bore continues to burn with little abatement. THE NAVY SCHEME. Melbourne, November 10. Speaking at a Mayoral dinner, Earl Dudley, the Governor-General, urged the importance to Australia oi itorganising and improving the naval and military forces, not merely for local purposes but because more (effective aid should be given to England in the great Imperial work she was called upon to perform.
Admiral l'oore, in dealing with the navy question, said what he would like to see was a flotilla, manjied entirely by Australians, exercised all round the conjstlinc in squadron work. In war timo this would be of most excellent assistance to the Imperial forces and It would always bo a part of such forces,
