THE KING'S BIRTHDAY.
i CELEBRATIONS IX ENGLAND. I UiltD MAVOJCS BANQUET. Received HI, 10.35 p.m. London, November 10. King Edward's birthday was celebrated at the military stations, also m the chief capitals and colonies. There was glorious weather, and there were immense crowds. Those present at the Guildhall banquet included the Primate, Sir Robert aail Lady Dart, and numerous judges and diplomats. The Lord Mayor (.Sir George Truscott) read King Edward's cordial thanks l'or his telegram of congratulations. Mr. Reginald HcKenna (First Lord of the Admiralty), responding to the toast of the Navy, said "we have to-day a supremacy which the Government meal's to preserve." Mr. Asquitli (the Premier), responding to the toast of "The Ministers," referred to the trade depression. Me was sanguine, .provided peace would be maintained, that there were signs to indicate that the set back to industrial activity was not of long duration. He cited figures showing tile satisfactory progress of the local measures undertaken to cope with unemployment.
NEW ZEALAND'S FELICITATIONS. I By Telegraph.—PreßS Association. Palmerston North, Last Night. Sir Joseph Ward having forwarded to His Majesty, through His Excellency the Governor, the felicitations and congratulations of the people of the Dominion on his birthday, and tendered their hearty loyalty, His Excellency received a cablegram to-day from the King expressing his appreciation of the assurances of loyalty of the people of New Zealand and assuring them of his regard for their welfare.
